The ARC

Hampshire Active Recovery Community (ARC) is an independent Peer-Led organisation with local branches across Hampshire, helping people on their journey to recovery from substance misuse and alcohol problems.

The aim is to show that a life free from the burden of addiction is both achievable and attractive.

Our community is made up of people who are in recovery themselves and others who have an interest in supporting our aims. ARC aims to support Inclusion Recovery Hampshire and other agencies to provide a seamless transition from services into sustained life-long recovery.

ARC has the remit SAVE

  • Co-ordinate and deliver Support Groups both in Inclusion Recovery hubs and in the community, both during the day and at evenings and weekends;
  • Organise and support fun Activities – boredom-busting and confidence building: showing that a life free from addiction is both achievable and attractive;
  • Provide the Service User Voice and feedback through advocacy and consultation; ensuring people’s voice and opinions matter at various levels (personal, service and strategic). ARC reps sit on all DAAT and Public Health meetings as well as attending Inclusion Team Meetings to provide a 2-way feedback mechanism;
  • Develop and organise Social Enterprise’s around the county – enabling ARC to become completely self-sufficient and not reliant on grant funding whilst at the same time offering members encouragement, support and a way to strengthen and bring out the valuable assets within our members. The Enterprise side of ARC can support Inclusion with its ETE pathway requirements.

ARC works in partnership with Inclusion on a number of areas – providing Support Groups such as RAW (Recovery Available for Women) in hub settings as well as Arts and Craft groups. Organising fun activities such as the very popular Open Mic Night (an alcohol free social event that takes place on the 2nd Thursday of each month) and a Recovery Ramble that took place as part of National Recovery Month in September, as well as regular lunch clubs. ARC have supported Inclusion recently by providing trained reps to sit on staff interview panels to recruit the County Manager, Sector Leads, and Team Leaders.
